Intermittent gear

機構 | Mechanism

Intermittent gears can transmit rotation intermittently.

By using intermittent gears, it is possible to perform complex transmissions that stop rotation at any time from constant rotation.

Also, unlike Geneva gears, the speed and torque when the rotation is transmitted are constant, and the time to stop can be set in more detail. In addition, since it is a single layer structure, it can be stored thinner than the Geneva gear. (Geneva gear has 2 layers because of pin attachment)

Note that when the intermittent gear begins to transmit rotation, a large torque is applied to the first tooth. There is no problem when operating with light torque, but you should be careful.

Also, be careful of friction and wear because the gears slip when stopped.
