Spur gear

機構 | Mechanism

The spur gear is an element that transmits the power that is essential for creating the KARAKURI.
Generally, a gear is a spur gear.
When the spur gear with the same number of teeth is engaged, only the direction of rotation changes.
When spur gears with different numbers of teeth are engaged, the rotation speed and the magnitude of force change in addition to the rotation direction.
When force is transmitted from a gear with many teeth to a gear with few teeth, the speed increases, the rotation speed increases, and the torque decreases.
Conversely,
When force is transmitted from a gear with few teeth to a gear with many teeth, the speed is reduced, the number of revolutions is reduced, and the torque is increased.
This is true for most KARAKURI that use gears.
Using this principle, mesh the large gear with the small gear, attach the large gear to the small gear, and mesh the large gear with the small gear …
By engaging the gears in this way, it is possible to increase the number of rotations from a gear with large torque and transmit it.
